About The Program

Orange County Government continues to innovate and take significant steps to help protect our environment. In 2021, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) agreed that expanding the County’s conservation properties was essential to protect natural resources and provide residents and visitors with much-needed benefits and nature-based opportunities for outdoor recreation. Since then, County staff have worked diligently to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and preserve new parcels of environmentally sensitive land. From July 21, 2021, through September 31, 2023, Orange County preserved an additional 530.39 acres of environmentally sensitive lands and will continue to grow.

Explore Orange County's wildlife and plants on nearly 24-thousand acres of undeveloped land set aside to protect our natural resources.

The Jr. Naturalist Program provides opportunities for youth, ages 8-14, to learn about nature through outdoor exploration, environmental activities and wildlife interaction. Most classes are held on Orange County conservation properties. All classes are free and open to the public. Registration is required. Space is limited and varies per class.
