Hurricane Season

The Atlantic Hurricane Season begins June 1 and ends November 30. Orange County Government is here to ensure you have the information you need before, during and after any severe tropical system affects our community with a variety of tools available online, on the phone or on your mobile device.

Hurricanes can bring hazards in many forms and while Orange County is located in Central Florida it certainly isn’t insulated from the possible effects of a storm. From high winds to tornadoes and flooding, hurricanes can present a variety of severe weather. Your ability to plan ahead will be your best protection against injury and damage to your home and property.

How to Prepare

Visit Ready.gov to learn what actions to take in the event of a hurricane watch or alert in your area.

  • Create a family emergency communication plan
  • Prepare a disaster supply kit
  • Know the local hurricane evacuation route and shelter locations
  • Protect your home
