Waterford Lakes Small Area Study

What is the Waterford Lakes Small Area Study?

The Waterford Lakes area has experienced substantial congestion issues due to increases in residential and commercial development. Orange County will address these issues and safety concerns by evaluating the overall performance of the region’s roadway and multimodal network with a comprehensive study.

The Waterford Lakes Small Area Study is a one year analysis of area roadways that will result in a report containing a prioritized list of recommended improvements.

Although not a part of the Waterford Lakes Small Area Study, the Lake Underhill Road Reconstruction Project lies within the study area. For information pertaining to the reconstruction of Lake Underhill Road between Alafaya Trail and Waterford Chase Parkway please click here.

What Area Does The
Study Include?

The study area includes the entire Waterford Lakes Master Community Association and the Eastwood Master Community Association.

What Does The Study Entail?

The study will include vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic counts on major roadways and intersections. Additionally, assessments of school pedestrian safety, evaluations of existing and future transit service and related mobility concerns will be studied. The report will also take an inventory of traffic control devices, striping and roadway infrastructure and analyze intersection and roadway capacity.

Get Involved?

As part of this study, District 4 Commissioner Jennifer Thompson and Orange County staff will host several community meetings. All property owners within the study area will receive meeting notices. The purpose of the meetings is to gather information to assist in the identification of issues for the study. If you would prefer to submit your comments online, please fill out the comment form.

The study does not include storm water, drainage issues or the installation of neighborhood traffic calming devices such as speed humps.
