Community Conference

Get hands-on, make your neighborhood a better place

Overview

The annual Orange County Community Conference provides Orange County residents an opportunity to learn about innovative ways to improve neighborhoods. Workshops offer a well-rounded blend of topics for individual citizens, voluntary neighborhood organizations, homeowners associations and other community groups. This year the conference was a virtual event on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

Workshop Topics

Health Services Department, Serving the Community
The Orange County Health Services Department works tirelessly to serve the community in many ways, including mitigating the socio-economic and health impacts of the coronavirus. Some of the essential services performed by this department include testing, providing personal protection equipment (PPE) to assisted living facilities, food drives, and opportunities to obtain a flu vaccine. This informative workshop will highlight the Health Services Department’s vital role as the community navigates a global health pandemic.

Checking in with Mayor Demings
Mayor Jerry L. Demings is finishing his second full year as Mayor of Orange County. Although this year will be remembered for the coronavirus, Mayor Demings continues to be committed to ensuring Orange County provides a quality of life that works for everyone. His commitment drives the initiatives he is implementing, including housing for all, transportation funding, economic development, and increased public safety. Please join Mayor Demings for a recap of 2020 and discussion about what is still to come.

Community Building While Social Distancing
The recent pandemic has forced us to withdraw from the groups we’ve come to rely on for social interaction, but we can still build relationships with our neighbors. Small actions can make you feel connected and energize your community. This workshop will demonstrate creative ways to safely engage with your neighbors and enjoy each other’s company, leaving your neighborhood stronger than ever.
