Free Compost

Yard waste collected from Orange County homes is composted and made available to County residents at no charge. Get free compost at the Orange County Landfill or transfer stations between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during days of operation. Requirements:

  • You must provide your own shovel and containers.
  • You can take up to one pickup truckload of compost.
  • You should call the Solid Waste Hotline or one of the transfer stations to confirm compost availability.

Construction and demolition debris is not accepted at the transfer station.

Holiday Schedule:
Closed on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Also closed on New Year's and July 4th when they fall on a weekday.

What's The Cost?

Minimum charge for any load is $6. Disposal fees vary according to the type of material.

Class I - $33.60/ton
Construction & Demolition Debris - $25.60/ton
Tires - $148.00/ton
Yard Waste - $29.00/ton

Payment can be made by cash, check, or major credit card.
