CR 545 (Avalon Road)

Roadway Conceptual Analysis

Description

Orange County Government has initiated a Roadway Conceptual Analysis (RCA) Study for the widening of CR 545 (Avalon Road) from US 192 to New Hartzog Road, a length of approximately 1.6 miles.

Purpose

The purpose of the study is to assess and recommend roadway improvements anticipated to improve safety and traffic flow in the area. The study considers the social and environmental impacts of adding travel lanes and other features such as, but not limited to, drainage conveyance and treatment improvements, freight accommodations, sidewalk, raised medians, lighting, landscaping and intersection improvements.

Status

The study is expected to be completed May 2023.

Public Involvement

A BCC Public Hearing has been scheduled to present the Roadway Conceptual Analysis Study to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, beginning at 2PM or shortly thereafter. The public will have opportunities to ask questions and provide input.

The County will conduct a comprehensive public involvement program that will include two community meetings. Additionally, the County may hold informational meetings for small groups if requested. The meetings and hearings will be conducted via the World Wide Web or in person.

At the first community meeting the County looks forward to receiving comments from the meeting participants on the preliminary preferred improvements. All comments will be reviewed and considered for implementation. During the second community meeting the County will present a recommendation for the proposed roadway improvements. Public comment will also be accepted during this meeting.

Following the community meetings, the public will have additional opportunities to provide comments during the public hearings with the LPA and the BCC.

The community meetings and the hearings, including the location whether virtual or in-person, will be advertised at least two (2) weeks before each date through the study newsletters (mailings and emails), newspaper advertisements (Orlando Sentinel and El Sentinel), study website and County press releases.
