Higher Education

The Higher Education workgroup is committed to providing college students, campus faculty, and staff information about health threats related to alcohol, tobacco, marijuana use, the misuse of prescription drugs, opioids, stimulants, and synthetic drug abuse. The membership includes staff and faculty from local colleges and universities, local law enforcement and court representatives, parents, retailers, and secondary school educators. The workgroup plans collaborative multi-jurisdictional efforts to address access to alcohol by underage persons, increased enforcement of MLDA laws, and responsible retailer practices. Members engage the community stakeholders (e.g., Parents, retailers, and educators) and recommend strategies to reduce and prevent harm related to substance use. Also, members advocate for and support campus-based student recovery communities.

Selected Workgroup Projects: Annual Higher Education Conference, harm-reduction marketing campaigns, Responsible Retailer Training, Support for Campus Recovery Communities.
