Infrastructure and Public Facilities

Organization Project Name Description Awarded Amount Agreement
Orange County Public Works Bonnie Brook Subdivision Drainage Improvements To mitigate flooding in the Bonnie Brook Subdivision, a new stormwater pump station with a 1,090-SF underground vault and dual 8,000-gpm pumps will be constructed to discharge into a nearby wetland and Shingle Creek. The project also includes a new stormwater collection system with water quality treatment and upgrades to existing pumps, increasing capacity from 3,000-gpm to dual 6,000-gpm pumps with a 1,740-SF vault. $1,514,104
Orange County Public Works Long Lake Pump Station Improvements The project will improve the Long Lake Pump Station’s structural integrity and flood resilience by replacing two 20,000-gpm diesel pumps with higher-capacity electric pumps, installing a backup generator for power reliability, and rehabilitating 900 feet of deteriorated discharge pipe to eliminate leaks and restore functionality. $8,711,455
Orange County Utilities Orlo Vista Integrated Water Resources Project To mitigate flooding in the Orlo Vista area, excess stormwater will be pumped into the headwaters of Shingle Creek, flowing to the South Water Reclamation Facility for use as a supplemental irrigation source. $12,600,000
City of Orlando Haralson Estates Stormwater & Flood Mitigation Project The project will upgrade the existing open-swale drainage system to a modern closed system with underground stormwater pipes, road resurfacing, and new sidewalks to improve safety and drainage. Phase 2 will include constructing retention ponds and pumping excess stormwater to Lake Mann to increase storage capacity and reduce flooding. $8,701,411
City of Orlando Richmond Heights Flood Mitigation The project will upgrade the stormwater system to reduce street flooding, protect homes, and keep evacuation routes accessible, benefiting 4,000 residents. It will alleviate flooding on 12 roadways and help preserve safe, affordable housing by preventing floodwater intrusion. $12,498,549
City of Winter Park W/WWW Lift Station Project – Ravaudage & Wymore This multi-jurisdictional project includes new and upgraded pump stations at Ravaudage and Wymore, along with 7,500 feet of sanitary force main to increase flow capacity by 500% for over 3,000 Lee Road corridor customers impacted during Hurricane Ian. Enhancements such as backup generators, fuel tanks, and telemetry will help prevent future flooding, protect nearby properties and waterbodies, and relieve system pressure in the downtown core. $5,157,507
City of Winter Garden Bethune, Edgeway, Basin, Maxey & Dunbar Drainage Project The project aims to mitigate flooding in East Winter Garden by adding stormwater inlets and upgrading ponds and piping systems. It includes surveying low-lying areas, conducting stormwater modeling, and developing plans to maximize stormwater collection and implement necessary improvements. $6,562,500

Mitigation

Organization Project Name Description Awarded Amount Agreement
Orange County Public Works Verona Park Subdivision & Pump Station Improvement The project will mitigate flooding in the Verona Park Subdivision and nearby areas by reshaping the Azalea Park Canal, adding two overflow weirs, and installing new stormwater infrastructure along Toledo Street. It also includes a trash skimmer for water quality and a tripling of pump capacity to further reduce flood risk. $3,660,966
City of Ocoee Roper Parkway & Capital Court Drainage Improvement Project This project will enhance flood resiliency in the western Lake Lotta Basin by upgrading culverts to improve stormwater flow. By eliminating two bottlenecks in the storm sewer system, it will reduce upstream flooding and mitigate overall flood risk. $486,627
City of Orlando Orlando Flood Mitigation through Drain Well Replacements The project involves replacing 13 nonfunctional drainage wells in low-to-moderate income areas and adding baffle boxes where feasible to enhance water quality. These improvements will help manage lake levels, reduce roadway flooding during storms, and improve stormwater control in landlocked basins. $15,750,000
Town of Eatonville Eatonville Resilience & Recovery This project will mitigate severe flooding from Lake King on the Catalina subdivision by creating overflow storage, implementing green stormwater infrastructure and upgrading the outfall system. $8,291,743

Planning Studies

Organization Project Name Description Awarded Amount Agreement
Orange County Office of Sustainability & Resilience Building Community Resilience An action plan will be developed to convert Orange County’s eight Community Centers into resilience hubs by assessing programming, structure, power, communications, and operations, with a focus on energy efficiency and reliability such as solar and battery storage. The plan will provide tailored improvements to strengthen community resilience, support vulnerable residents, and align with other CDBG-DR projects. $500,000
City of Ocoee Lake Lotta and Northwest Ditch Basin Studies Studies of the Lake Lotta and Northwest Ditch basins using ICPR modeling will guide comprehensive planning to prioritize flood risk mitigation. This work will support the City’s Watershed Master Plan, improve drainage projects, prevent future drainage problems, and enhance the City’s CRS rating to help residents receive better NFIP flood insurance discounts. $500,000
City of Orlando Nature Based Solutions for Flood Mitigation Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) use green infrastructure such as wetlands, retention ponds, and urban forests to sustainably manage stormwater, reduce flooding, and improve water quality in Orlando. A consultant will be hired to identify cost-effective NBS projects that also enhance recreation, health, and community livability while avoiding the carbon footprint of traditional infrastructure. $500,000
