Household Hazardous Wastes (HHW)

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) includes:

  • paints
  • turpentine
  • paint strippers
  • fluorescent lamps
  • mercury thermometers
  • cleaners
  • pesticides
  • herbicides

These products  contain potentially hazardous ingredients.  Improper disposal of these items and other types of hazardous waste pollute the environment and pose a threat to human health.  Do not pour them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers, or put them out with the trash.  Special care is required for disposing of HHW and Electronic Waste.
