Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in February
Come for the excitement of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association's All-Star Weekend Invitational Tournament on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th, at Silver Star Recreation Center, 2801 N. Parks Will Hold Six New 5K Family Races!
If you like to run, join Orange County Parks and Recreation for our all-new Epic Family 5K races! Locations include Moss Park on April 14th; Barnett Park, April 21st; Blanchard Park, May 5th; Cady Way Trail, June 2nd; Chapin Station, June 23rd; and Apopka Station, July 21st. Cost: $25 per race. Pool Closed for Repairs
The swimming pool at Fort Gatlin Recreation Complex, 2009 Lake Margaret Dr., Orlando, is closed for tile and surfacing repairs beginning Monday, January 30th; the pool is expected to re-open on February 20th.
Ages 55+ Can Learn to Line Dance!
Marks Street Senior Center, 99 E. Marks St., Orlando, is offering Line Dancing classes for ages 55+ on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30am, and Fridays at 10am. Cost: free (donations appreciated). For more information, visit the Marks Street web page or call 407-254-1066.
ECOSaturdays in Feburary at Tibet-Butler Preserve!
On Saturday, February 18th at 10am, let's go to the Wild Arctic! Winter comes only once a year for most people but it's year-round for the native people and animals of the arctic. This frozen tundra is a unique ecosystem, home to rare and endangered wildlife, including polar bears. Cost: free, appropriate for all ages, and limited to 35 participants.

Orlando Magic Wheels Wants More Basketball Players
The Orlando Magic Wheels - a member of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) - is a team where physically challenged athletes compete in fast-moving basketball tournament play. Athletes, primarily with lower limb disabilities that range from amputations to paraplegia, participate using wheelchairs. The team plays at the Orange County Orlando Magic Recreation Center at Silver Star Community Park on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm and welcomes new members! Ranked in the top 25% of all U.S. parks with 16,000 acres of land, Orange County Government's Parks and Recreation Division operates 97 parks, trails and facilities, including five Orange County Orlando Magic Recreation Centers. Throughout the year, our mission remains the same: to provide and preserve quality parks and recreation for all.
Orange County Parks' hours are from 8am – 8pm; the operating hours for Orange County’s unmanned pocket parks and smaller neighborhood parks remain from sunrise to sunset, while lighted athletic facilities are open after 6pm for practice or game play.
