04/18/2017 Orange County Fire Rescue Partners With Habitat For Humanity To Install Fire Protection Systems In Local Habitat Homes
Orange County Fire Rescue (OCFR) is in continuous search of innovative ways to improve the chance of a family’s survival in the event of a fire in the home. OCFR is proud to have recently initiated partnerships with key local agencies and businesses in an effort to deliver the latest in home fire safety to a family who will move into a rehabilitated Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando home. It was the first time the fire rescue organization teamed up with Habitat for such an endeavor.
04/14/2017 North-Central Florida To Host Exclusive Innovation And Entrepreneurship Event
Orange County Government recently announced that the North-Central Florida proposal, comprised of the cities of Tallahassee/Leon County, Gainesville/Alachua, County, Orlando/Orange County, St. Augustine/St. Johns County and the Space Coast, has been selected to host the 8th Americas Competitiveness Exchange on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ACE), December 3-9, 2017.
Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, in her capacity as Director of Emergency Management, which includes unincorporated and incorporated areas of Orange County, issued today a local state of emergency to protect citizens, visitors and properties from extreme fire conditions.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs welcomed hundreds of citizens and community leaders to the 2017 State of the County address at I-Drive 360, home to the Coca-Cola Orlando Eye – the region’s newest attraction and the largest observation wheel on the East Coast.

In an effort to address the shortage of affordable housing for low-and very low-income households in Orange County, the County is utilizing $724,000 of INVEST funds for construction activities related to the site development of Arbor Bend and Juniper Bend.

Today, the City of Orlando and Orange County Government, in collaboration with Pulse, announce the dedication of June 12, 2017, as “Orlando United Day – A Day of Love and Kindness.” This announcement formally dedicates June 12 to the memory and honor of the 49 innocent lives taken at Pulse, reaffirms the community’s commitment to survivors and loved ones, as well as recognizes the global compassion and love displayed in the wake of the tragedy.
