Honor Our Fallen Heroes this Memorial Day

Orange County, FL – Citizens are invited to join Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and the Veterans Advisory Council in remembering and saluting the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our Armed Forces this Memorial Day. The annual Orange County War Memorial Commemoration Ceremony will take place at the Orange County Courthouse at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014.

“We join our grateful nation in honoring the selfless sacrifice of the brave Americans whose courageous spirit and noble sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Mayor Jacobs said. “As we pay tribute to our fallen hometown heroes on Memorial Day, join me in also remembering those who currently serve in our Armed Forces with valor, courage and honor.”

Mayor Jacobs will deliver remarks and present a resolution during the commemoration event. She will then be accompanied by Veterans Advisory Council Chairman Colonel Edwin R. Marrero, U.S. Army (Ret), in a wreath laying ceremony, which will be followed by the playing of taps. Vice Admiral Alfred G. Harms, U.S. Navy (Ret), will serve as the guest speaker.
