Orange County, FL, October 12, 2011 – Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs joined Sheriff Jerry Demings, District 1 Commissioner S. Scott Boyd, and District 6 Commissioner Tiffany Moore Russell to formally open a new Sheriff’s Sector 5 substation near SeaWorld.

SeaWorld provided the building and made many improvements to the interior and exterior saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. “SeaWorld is a great corporate citizen and I applaud their support of law enforcement throughout Orange County,” said Mayor Jacobs.

SeaWorld has provided free office space for the Sheriff’s Office for the past 18 years in the International Drive tourist and convention district. The company recently opted to re-use that space and immediately moved to provide an even larger building for Sheriff’s operations.

The building will be used by deputies to write reports and conduct interviews. Tourists and area residents will also have a place to go for help.

“Our goal is to make sure tourists are safe and secure while they are here,” said Sheriff Jerry Demings.
