About Animal Services

Orange County Animal Services is a progressive animal-welfare focused organization that enforces the Orange County Code to protect both citizens and animals.

Animal Services welcomes more than 23,000 animals to our shelter each year and receives nearly 65,000 calls annually. We provide service throughout Orange County, including all municipalities. Our Field Operations group responds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to citizens' calls regarding:  

• Animal abuse and neglect
• Loose and nuisance animals 
• Injured animals 
• Animal bites and attacks
• Abandoned pets

Animal Services offers a variety of community-based services and programs to protect pets and people in Orange County. Our comprehensive community programs include:

• Low-cost spay and neuter program
• Pet adoptions 
• Foster care program
• Volunteer program 
• Community outreach & education

Adoption Hours

• Monday - Friday: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Doggy Wellness Hour: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (Dog Area Closed)
• Saturday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Closed Sundays and Holidays

Shelter Hours (Lost and Found)

• Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Escort required between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.to 6 p.m.
• Saturday: 10 a.m.to 3 p.m.
• Closed Sundays and Holidays

Orange County Animal Services offers adoption services for homeless pets, similar to the SPCA of Central Florida. However, we are the only enforcement agency in Orange County that responds to requests for service from the public regarding violations of the Orange County Code. In addition:

• Orange County Animal Services is a public, open-admission shelter that accepts any domestic animal in need
  • SPCA is a non-profit which accepts only owner-surrendered pets
• Animal Services operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for the public and provides microchipping services and rabies vaccinations
  • SPCA has a full-service veterinary clinic for the public
